If you're interested in a particular workshop or a particular technique (or group of techniques)
please email me and we can talk about what you would like to schedule.
I have so many interests and I do so many different type of artwork and mediums.
I draw, I paint, I quilt, I do mixed media painting, fiber collage, paper collage...
a little of this, a little of that.
So if you don't see a class that you would like, just drop me an email inquiring about it.
FIBER ART
I love the texture that a stitch brings to any artwork.
I use my sewing machine (and hand stitching) as a way to bring another layer to my work.
"Her Awakening"
This is an art quilt class that combines image transfer, design, hand stitching, beading and layering.
Oh, and lots of yummy texture.
I provide the rust elements and drawings.
Reverse Applique Book Cover
A timeless quilting technique with that Alabama Chanin twist.
Simple, yet beautiful sketchbook ( or any book) cover that can be made in one day.
Very few supplies needed -all hand stitching.
Optional beading.
Scraps, Fragments and Artifacts
Scrap-a small piece or portion; a fragment
Fragment- a part broken off of or detached; an odd piece or scrap
Artifact- an object made by human beings esp. with a view to subsequent use; a hand made object.
Scraps of fabric, of stories.
Fragments of a memory, or another time.
Artifacts from your family, your loved ones.
All woven together to tell a story of where you came from or
of a person that inspired you.
Join me as we gather all our random memories and weave them
into a mixed media fiber piece.
It’s going to be a place that you can finally showcase your little treasures
instead of hiding them away in a drawer or box somewhere.
Be gathering all those bits and pieces, your favorite little scraps of fabric,
all those keepsakes from a loved one.
Those Artifacts that you hide away maybe pull them out once or twice a year.
This project is all about making a memory
And having an heirloom when you’re finished.
I’ll help you look for the story – put the words to it.
We’ll also learn a lot of different mixed media techniques like joining non-traditional pieces to fiber work, making paper fabric, sewing on (and with) paper…
Some fabric painting, a little dyeing…
You know – a little of this and a little of that.

Using acrylic mediums, we will make the outside of your book waterproof and extremely durable.

Drawing
"Whimsical Mark Making"
Whimsical Mark Making
a playful approach to drawing
It's been said that doodling releases inner
inhibitions. It frees us when our mind isn't fully focused on what it's doing.
When we journal, we are learning to tap into our
inner energy. Seems to be that doodling would be a perfect prelude to
journaling.
Today we will focus on some really simple mark
making, I'll show you how to transform those simple marks into some pretty cool
drawings as well as fanciful journal pages.
No experience required!
Learn tips and tricks to make your drawings "pop"
as well as how to make your eyes and hands cooperate
instead of fighting each other for control.
If you don't want to bring any supplies, there is an optional kit for this class.
